Why Dublin?

Boasting a compact city center lined with galleries, museums, pubs and shops, Dublin enjoys its reputation as a safe, friendly destination with a strong economy and many cultural attractions. Perched on Ireland’s east coast and overlooking Dublin Bay, Dublin is Ireland’s capital and largest city, as well as one of Europe’s oldest cities. English serves as Dublin’s spoken language, as Irish is rarely spoken in everyday conversation, but most street signs include both languages.

Surrounded by Dublin County’s seaside villages and rolling mountains, Dublin is extremely accessible: just one hour from London, less than two hours from Paris and Brussels and six hours from the U.S. East Coast by air. Situated less than seven miles from Dublin’s city center, Dublin Airport provides service to 24 airports in the UK and more than 100 airports throughout Europe, as well as featuring 12 scheduled services to North America. As Ireland’s busiest airport and among Europe’s busiest airports, Dublin Airport provides service to 150 destinations, with New York as its third-ranked destination. Visitors flying into Dublin Airport can hop on the Dublin Bus service, which carries more than 118 million passengers each year throughout both the city and county of Dublin.

The center, which is perched on the banks of the River Liffey and six miles from Dublin Airport, is situated within steps of city center hotels, restaurants, and attractions. CCD was opened in September 2010 as Ireland’s first purpose-built international conference and event venue, as well as the first carbon-neutral, international convention center. CCD houses 4,500 square meter of exhibition space and space for up to 3,000 delegates throughout 22 meeting rooms and halls, including a 2,000-person auditorium.
